Ingredients #

  • 4 oz semisweet chocolate, chopped, plus additional shaved for garnish
  • 1/4 c heavy cream
  • 3 c freshly brewed strong coffee, hot
  • 1/2 c Cognac or brandy
  • Lightly sweetened whipped cream to taste

Instructions #

In a metal bowl over simmering water, melt the chopped chocolate with the cream, stirring, until the mixture is smooth. Add the coffee and brandy in a stream, stirring, until the mixture is well-combined.

Divide the mixture among 4 8-oz coffee cups or mugs. Top each drink with a dollop of whipped cream and sprinkle with grated chocolate.
