Beef & Veal

Beef Bulgogi

This is so delicious. It’s not particularly traditional, but it’s easy to make and very, very good. It’s well worth seeking out a Korean market, where you can find convenient packages of thinly sliced beef perfect for this dish.

Beef Rendang

This tastes unlike any other beef dish I’ve ever had.

Beef Wellington

Here is a dish for a truly special occasion, when only the best will do. It’s the work of a few days, so read the entire recipe and make your plan in advance.

Bobotie

Bobotie is the national dish of South Africa. It’s a delicious, unusual and easy dish. It’s traditionally served with yellow rice, although I think a salad of some sort is also a welcome counterpoint to such a rich main course. This is exceptionally delicious made with lamb instead of beef, or a mixture of the two.

Carne Guisada

There’s nothing particularly unusual about my version of this Tex-Mex classic (which I think I got from a local Junior League cookbook), but it’s awfully good.

Chapli Kebab

Despite the name, this South Asian street food is not a skewer of grilled meat. These are patties of boldly seasoned ground meat, fried on a flat surface until brown and crisp on both sides. These make a delicious and easy meal slipped into warm pitas along with fresh garnishes and a tangy tzatziki.

Chinese Curry Puffs

These Chinese bakery favorites are filled with a highly seasoned curried beef mixture.
